BIg Jim Retires....officially
Jim McCormick retires .....although this time its official and permanent.
Jim started in the Motor trade in 1994 as Sales Manager in Audi/VW on Boucher road when the two german giants shared a Showroom on Belfast's iconic Boucher road, often referred to as the motor mile. In 2001, he relocated to Boucher Crescent to head up the sales team at Agnews Mercedes-Benz Belfast, Northern Irelands only Mercedes dealer currently. A four year spell seen Jim take on the role as Dealer Principal for Donnelly bros VW sites based in Campsie, Dungannon and Enniskillen. Travellling the length and breadth of the country took its toll on Jim (and his golf handicap) that he ended up back in Mercedes for a short period before the opportuntiy to take on Auto Q arose in 2007.
Jim and Paul McGuire took over the reigns at Auto Q in Dec 2007 conveniently just before the recession." It seemed like a great idea at the time working for yourself selling luxury cars but it was tough and we got through it." With Auto Q being synonymous for selling high performance cars, Jim decided to alter the stock profile to suit the times and keep Auto Q at the fore front of the motor trade in Belfast and Northern Ireland.
With Paul spending more and more time in his own growing business Traction Finance, formerly known as Lease Options, he decided the time was right to hand over control to Jim McCormick and each concentrate on their strengths and businesses. Jim could now call Auto Q his own family business now with his son Craig and daughter Rachael continuing to work in the business for their 12th year. Other members of the family have worked in a casual capacity throughout the years to help out and their support is very much appreciated and remembered.
During the 12 years, Jim has worked ardously as you would imagine and has grown the business in every area where we now try to be self sufficient in all aspects with fantatsic facilities throughout. We have a fantastic 7 ramp garage with the latest diagnostic equipment including 4 poster wheel aligmnment ramps. We have our own insurance approved bodyshop with ovens for alloys, cars and vans. We have service contracts with fleet companies, courtesy cars available for use and can cater for all types of vehicle enhancement on site. None of these would be possible without Jims's experience not only in the motor trade but business as a whole.
Jim has handed over responsibility to his son Craig McCormick who has now become General Manager. We wish Craig the best of luck to taking the business forward.
